A Knoxville man faces up to five years in prison after a jury found him guilty of felony Operating while Intoxicated in Marion County District Court Wednesday. Sentencing is scheduled for February for 66-year-old Gary Brian Smith. This was the 3rd time Smith was convicted on OWI, which is a Class D Felony. Marion County Attorney Ed Bull thanked the Knoxville Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office for their dedicated service, saying that a conviction wouldn’t be possible without them. He also thanked the jury for their time and the seriousness with which they handled the obligations of jury duty.

Assistant Attorney Nicole Olson said that the prosecution and conviction once again reaffirm the commitment the attorney’s office has to the prosecution of crimes related to drinking and driving.
