Cooperation between four area groups is helping to solve some flooding issues at the Bessie Spaur Butterfly Garden. Karen Ackley, with the Marion County Extension Office, says heavy rains over the past few summers have tended to flood the garden. But recently, the Knoxville Federated Garden Club has teamed up with the Extension Office, Knoxville Hospital and Clinics, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service to receive grants that will help create solutions, including building a rain garden. Ackley says that it should solve both the flooding issues and watershed issues at the hospital as well.
