Chariton knocked down 21-of-37 free-throw attempts, and the Melcher-Dallas girls basketball team struggled to knock down shots from the floor, as the Saints fell 42-27 at home against Chariton Saturday.

MacKenzie Suntken’s seven points was the high output to the Saints, who fall to 2-5 overall on the season.

A slow start doomed the Melcher-Dallas boys basketball team, as they fell 62-34 to Chariton.  The Saints mustered up just six points by halftime, but rode a strong performance by Ross Dawson to nearly equal the Chargers scoring output in the second half.

Dawson finished with a team-high 17 points, and also recorded 10 rebounds.  The Saints will need to improve in a hurry, as they’ll want to put their best foot forward Tuesday night when they host cross-county rival Twin Cedars.
