The Pella City Council met last night. The council approved an Airport Justification report from Snyder & Associates for the FAA. According to the council packet the proposed new airport would be a joint venture between Pella and Oskaloosa, and would likely include the two Cities selling their municipal airports to help pay for one regional airport. The reports to the FAA are a requirement before any action can be taken with the current airport in Pella. Several people addressed the Council to voice their opposition to the proposed airport, both from the Pella area and the Oskaloosa area. The Airport Justification Report was approved by the council, and is not to exceed a cost of $21,333.
