Texas Governor Rick Perry was in Pella yesterday at an event at Smoky Row. During his stop at Smokey Row. Perry highlighted his plans for the southern border, and his endorsement by controversial Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpiao, who is currently on tour with Perry. The Governor took questions from the audience ranging from his stance on foreign policy and the UN, to his ideas for federal energy policies. Perry said that when considering federal energy policy he wanted to eliminate federal incentives for any specific green energy sources and let states compete with each other. After the event Governor Perry told KNIA/KRLS News that his goal is to have strong support in Marion County, and that when choosing between him and his Republican rivals his campaign had laid out its vision, and the voters would decide.

The Iowa Caucuses are on January 3rd.

For those north of the river in Marion county, the Republican caucus will be held at Pella Christan High School and for those south of the river, the Republican Caucus will be at Knoxville High School. The doors will open at 6:00 with the actual process set to start at 7:00.

There are two locations in the county that will be holding Democrat caucuses. People that live in townships and precincts south of the river will convene at Knoxville Middle School. Those living in townships and precincts north of the river will convene at Lincoln Elementary School in Pella. The Democrat Caucuses will start at 7:00.
