Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat says he hopes everyone has a safe and responsible Christmas weekend. He asks Marion County citizens contribute to their own safety of themselves, their family, and others by choosing not to drink and drive. Recent studies indicate that on a typical weekend evening, one in ten drivers is legally impaired. That number is often higher on holidays. Sheriff Goemaat notes that it’s normal for law enforcement to be out in stronger numbers over holiday weekends. He says to always have a designated driver, and to make sure you buckle up as well.
