A traveling Civil War exhibit will be setting up shop in Knoxville next summer. “The Firery Trial – Iowa and the Civil War” is an exhibit that details the impact Iowa had on the Civil War. It is part of the State Historical Society of Iowa’s History on the Move Program. The Rotary Club of Knoxville is helping bring the exhibit to the city. Tom Schmeh, with the Rotary Club, says the exhibit displays the impact the Civil War had on Iowa, and has a computer program that allows visitors to research Civil War Ancestors. An Iowa Civil War time governor, William M. Stone, was from Knoxville.
