The Twin Cedars girls basketball team made a fourth-quarter run to cut a late-game deficit to three points, but couldn’t get any closer than that, as the Sabers fell 60-53 at Des Moines Christian Saturday afternoon. The loss was the second time in a week that the Twin Cedars girls were on the short end of the score, and drops the Sabers to 6-2 overall entering the Christmas break.

Three players scored in double figures and the Twin Cedars boys used a strong third quarter effort to hold on for a 51-46 win over Des Moines Christian Saturday. The Sabers entered the final period with a six-point lead, and maintained their distance over the final eight minutes, closing the game out at the free-throw line.

Otis Roby and Derek Springer each had 13 points to lead Twin Cedars, while Springer’s twin brother Dylan added 12 points. The victory gave the Sabers the non-conference win they were hoping to earn before the Christmas break, and moves them to 4-4 overall after three straight wins this week.
