Three players reached double digits but the Central College women’s basketball team couldn’t find an answer for Buena Vista University in a 66-56 Iowa Conference defeat Saturday. Alyssa Schwartz posted a game-high 16 points and career-best nine rebounds. Kelsey Schuring had 12 points and Sarah Paulson added 11 points and seven rebounds. Central falls to 5-15 overall and 0-11 in the league.

A last-ditch Dutch jumper bounced off the rim as time expired Saturday night and the Central College men’s basketball team suffered a 69-68 Iowa Conference loss at Buena Vista University. Central and Buena Vista traded the lead six times in the game, including five changes in a hard-fought first period. KJ Cool and Chris Lehman each had 12 points on the night to lead the Dutch.

The Central men have now lost six straight league games and are 12-7 overall and 5-6 in the conference. Central takes a break from Iowa Conference action when it plays host to Faith College (8-9) Tuesday.
