The Knoxville High School basketball teams are hosting their Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser on Saturday. Last year, Knoxville raised around $25,000 for cancer research – more than any school in the Midwest. Girls’ varsity coach Jim Uitermarkt says the event has taken on a life of its own with the community support. Events start with Laps for Hope at the Rec Center at 6am Saturday. The alumni games start at 11am, beginning with the popular six-on-six women’s game. There will be almost 300 silent auction items to bid on. 1320 KNIA will air the doubleheader against Chariton. Pregame coverage starts at 6pm.

Utitermarkt has noted that already more than $11,000 has been raised.
