[simage=6868,max,n,center,] At approximately 9:30 yesterday morning, The Pella Rural Fire Department, Ambulance, and Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies were paged to a garage fire at 1815 Elk Horn Court near 180th and Highway 163. The garage and attached house were completely destroyed. Firefighters battled wind speeds estimated at 40mph. According to Marion County records, the deed to the home is held by Joshua and Julie Lautenbach. Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkum tells KNIA/KRLS News that while the fire didn’t cause injuries, it was among the worst he has seen in his 40 years of fighting fires. The fire is currently under investigation. KNIA/KRLS News will provide more information as soon as it becomes official.
