Still searching for the their first Little Hawkeye Conference wins of the season, the Knoxville boys and girls basketball squads likely would not have picked Pella Christian as the easiest place to get their respective first victories. But the schedule says to travel to the Eagles’ gym tonight. The girls have played well the past seven quarters and played well at Carlisle on Saturday only to see the Wildcats come back in the late stages to win. Coach Jim Utiermarkt says the emergence of Freshman Taylor Carter has given his team a needed boost especially on the defensive end. The boys, meanwhile, may be the most frustrated team in the state. They have lost three of their last four games at or near the final buzzer. Coach Jeff Larson says the guys need to figure out a way to finish the games. He adds they still are confident and have not hung their heads. You can hear the play-by-play on AM 1320 KNIA with Derek Cardwell and Kevin Crawford starting at six.
