PCM closed out their multi-game road trip with a pair of wins over Jefferson-Scranton last night; 57-52 in the girls’ game, and 60-37 in the nightcap.

The Mustang girls appeared to have the game in hand midway through the final quarter, but a surge by the Rams had PCM on the ropes before some key free throws helped them to shut the door.

Courtney Van Houweling was potent from beyond the arc, leading PCM with 21 points, with Kelsey Townsend adding 12 and Krisha Houseman putting up 10 in a balanced effort for coach Bret Grier’s squad.  The PCM girls are now 9-4 overall and 7-4 in the Heart of Iowa Conference.

The second game of the night saw the PCM boys jump out to a 35-12 lead by halftime and all 16 varsity players saw time in the court in the 23-point victory.  Scott Bruxvoort had a team-high 12 points and Nate VandeWall and Jordan Van Roekel each scored 11 in a very balanced offensive night for the Mustangs.

The PCM boys basketball team has now won seven straight games, and improves to 11-2 overall and 9-1 in the Heart of Iowa Conference.  Both teams are at home Friday to host South Hamilton.
