PCM Mustang girls and boys basketball teams each came up with big second-half performances to come away with the sweep on the road in Ankeny against Grand View Park Baptist; as the girls claimed a 62-43 win, and the boys triumphed 70-47.  

In the girls’ contest, PCM was down by 3 after 1 quarter of play, but Abbi Gilson would score six straight unanswered points including a steal and also a trip to the free throw line.  Kelsey Townsend would be a great asset to the team contributing 15 points along with Courtney Van Houweling scoring 14.  

PCM would go on a 22-14 run to hold the Defenders to just 26 points with PCM leading by 5 going into the locker rooms with the score 31-26.

In the 2nd half, the PCM Mustang girls would not look back as they would only allow 8 points in the 3rd quarter
and 9 points in the 4th to outscore the Defenders 31 to 17 in the second half.  
 
PCM would come away with the easy win on the road over Grand View Park Baptist 62-43 and now move to 7-4 in overall play and 5-4 in the conference.  The Mustang girls go on the road against Nevada on Friday.

The PCM boys also had a tough time early, as the Defenders’ John Luke Talton and Rodney Richardson would combine for 15 points in the first quarter and 28 points overall, but Scott Bruxvoort would again be the Mustang’s leading scorer with
31 points followed by Jordan Van Roekel with 15 points.  

PCM outscored Grandview Park Baptist 21-6 in the second quarter to get a nice lead going into the half and steadily pulled away in the third and fourth quarters.  PCM Head Coach Fred Lorensen said he would like to find some players step up from the bench and be a real key player.

The PCM Boys now move to 8-2 in overall play and 7-1 in conference play.  The Mustangs travel to Nevada on Friday and then on Saturday to go against Pella.
