PCM Boys Blast South Hamilton, Girls Fall Just Short

The Mustangs of PCM had a roller coaster ride Friday night with the girls losing a nail-biter 46-41 and the boys winning by an amazing 99-62 blowout against South Hamilton.
Both PCM and South Hamilton started out cold in the 1st quarter of the girls’ game, as the score was 9-4 and both teams shot under 30 percent from the field; but things would heat up for the Mustangs after a 8-0 run to go up by 3 and take a 17-16 halftime lead. The same margin held true after three quarters of play at 31-30.
Unfortunately, the Mustangs were only held to only ten points in the 4th quarter after an 8-0 run by South Hamilton’s senior Taryn Wicks – who scored 22 points throughout the game and put the Hawks up by seven with under two minutes left to play – putting the game out of reach. The Mustangs fall to 9-5 overall in the season and 7-5 in the Heart of Iowa Conference and face Roland Story in Monroe on Tuesday night.
The PCM boys opened the nightcap with a quick 29-12 1st quarter to bury the Hawks early, en route to a 39-point win. Scott Bruxvoort would be the Mustang’s go-to-guy, yet again, as he had little resistance scoring 46 points throughout the night as one of ten Mustangs in the scoring column.
PCM now goes to 12-2 in the season and 10-1 in the Pride of Iowa Conference and will face Roland-Story in Monroe on Tuesday. You can catch a delayed broadcast of last night’s action on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS.
