Tuesday night’s narrow 35-25 win over Norwalk marked the midway point in the Little Hawkeye Conference schedule for the Pella Christian girls basketball team, and may have also served as a turning point for the Lady Eagles’ season.

Head coach Kevin Van Maanen says he hopes the aggressive style of play employed by the Warriors served as an example of what he expects from his own squad.

“What we try to stress all the time is good ball pressure, and I don’t think they knew what ball pressure was until Norwalk put it on. I think the girls saw that, and I kept telling them, ‘that’s what I want [our] ball pressure to be,'” said Van Maanen.

“Hopefully now we can learn from that. Now they’ve seen that from another team, and hopefully they can learn better from that and get better defensively, which hopefully will make our offense better too.”

The Pella Christian girls basketball team made a perfect 6-0 pass through the first run of conference games, and starts the second trip through the league tomorrow night when they host Knoxville.
