As if facing one of their main conference rivals wasn’t enough, the Pella High girls and boys basketball teams should be even more motivated for tonight’s games in Oskaloosa after a pair of stunning setbacks to Newton on Tuesday.

The Lady Dutch were edged out by the Indians 38-36 in overtime earlier this season, and head coach Jerod Garland says he’s counting on his upperclassmen to respond well tonight.

The Pella girls carry a 5-3 conference mark into tonight’s game, which is in a three-way tie for second place in the Little Hawkeye, along with Oskaloosa and Norwalk.

In the boys’ contest, the Little Dutch are hoping to quickly erase the memory of Tuesday’s loss – but it won’t come easy.  The Pella High boys won the first meeting with the Indians by 15 points, and are 6-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference; while Oskaloosa is 4-4 and coming off of a loss to Norwalk on Tuesday.

You can hear live coverage of tonight’s games broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS with Eric Gotschall and Randy Sikkema in Oskaloosa for the call.  Pregame coverage begins at 6:00 p.m. tonight.
