A pair of the top boys basketball teams in the area clash this afternoon in the Tulip City, as Pella High hosts PCM in non-conference play.

The Little Dutch are 4-2 overall, following a win over Oskaloosa on Tuesday, and head coach Mark Core says his team will need to be at the top of their game to slow down a very athletic Mustangs squad that has had the benefit of playing together for several seasons at the Varsity level.

PCM, meanwhile, is 9-2 overall after last night’s win over Nevada, and will be playing their third game this week. Mustangs’ head coach Fred Lorensen says his team will need to handle Pella’s pressure defense and continue to improve at the offensive end of the floor if they hope to have a repeat of last year’s win.
