For Pleasantville basketball, the contest with Lenox was not any regular game on a Friday night, it was also the night of the annual Sno Ball Dance. The Trojan girls and boys would go off to the dance floor on a pair of big victories over the Tigers by the score of 60-32 for the girls and 66-32 for the boys. Pleasantville would hold their opponent to just single digit scoring in every quarter of both games.

Alessia Luna would get things going in the first quarter of the girls’ game after two key three-pointers to put the Trojans up 11-6. Luna would end up with 11 points on the night. The Trojans would keep things rolling in the second half as Pleasantville converted several free-throw opportunities. Freshman Kennedy Core would lead the team in scoring with 12 points, but the Trojans would have 6 other players contributing 6 or more points. The Pleasantville girls now advance to 5-13 overall in the season and 4-9 in the Pride of Iowa Conference play and face I-35 on Tuesday night.

In the nightcap, the boys would produce similar results, as Hunter Van Haalen scored ten points to start the game and the Trojans led 17-6 in the first quarter. He would lead all scorers with 22 on the night. Pleasantville kept their momentum going and got a comfortable lead at the half by the score of 34-17. Pleasantville had contributions from the bench as Chris Peden, Josh Luna and Trevor Zoss combined for a total of 19 points.

The Trojans would not let up in the second half and would outscore the Tigers 32-15 to close the game. The Trojans now advance to 13-2 overall on the season and 10-2 in the Pride Of Iowa Conference play.

Senior Collin Thomas was named Sno Ball King, with Abigail Bach taking the Sno Ball Queen crown. You can catch a delayed broadcast of the game on Sunday afternoon on 92.1 KRLS.
