Despite some early season struggles for the Pleasantville girls basketball team, it’s hard to overlook the impressive play of freshman Kennedy Core.

Trojans’ head coach Trevor Miller says Core represents the future of the program, and though she makes “freshman” mistakes occasionally, he recognizes this season as an important part of her development as a leader.

Core has responded well to being put in some tough positions, as she leads the team in scoring and has assumed a majority of the responsibility for getting the ball up the floor.

The Pleasantville girls are trying to track down their second win of the season on Tuesday, when they face Nodaway Valley.
