Marion County Supervisor Jim Kingery says he thinks county roads remain in pretty good shape. The roads budget, however, remains low. Kingery tells KNIA/KRLS News that the funds just aren’t there to do all the improvements they’d like to do. His comments come after Governor Terry Branstad proposed 50 million dollars in efficiency savings at the Iowa DOT. Three bridges were recently closed in Marion County due to lack of funds. Kingery says about 10 more are due for repair soon. He adds that the Supervisors have increased the value of materials they purchase for roads and will continue to do so.
