It may not have been pretty, but the Pella Christian girls basketball team managed to keep their first run through the Little Hawkeye Conference unblemished, defeating Norwalk 35-25 last night in Pella. After scoring just 20 points through the first three quarters, the Lady Eagles managed to close out the game on a 15-9 run to preserve the win.

“I’m going to give credit to Norwalk, because they came out and played [great] defense. I knew they’d always played great defense in the past and were very physical, but we just struggled,” said Pella Christian girls head coach Kevin Van Maanen.

“I don’t know what it was, but we just couldn’t get the ball in the hole. We found a way, though, and I told the team ‘sometimes you’ve got to win ugly,’ and I thought we did that tonight. We found a way to win and fought through that.”

In a quiet night offensively, Christina Nolte’s 8 points was tops on the team. The Lady Eagles are 6-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference and 10-2 overall entering Friday night’s Homecoming game against Knoxville.
