The first seven minutes of the game the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad was playing well and led Newton 9-7. For the next nine minutes, the Cardinals would outscore the Panthers 17-3 to take a 12 point lead into the halftime break and end up winning 46-34. Knoxville would get the lead down to eight in the fourth quarter but could not get any closer. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said the offense was very limited on what it could do. Meredith Cunningham led the Panthers with 15 points. Knoxville falls to 1-10 on the season and 0-5 in the Little Hawkeye Conference…the Panthers travel to Norwalk on Friday.
