Knoxville Schools Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack thinks a focus on competency based education is a good thing. He feels that too often, people get bogged down in how much time students spend in the seats. They don’t focus on the individual needs and learning patterns of students. Dr. Flack hopes that there is a greater focus on opportunities for learning with any new legislation. This includes online learning and a better ability to share programs across districts. Dr. Flack notes that, like always, much of what can be accomplished will come down to funding and how revenue is arranged for education.
