Defense determined the outcome of a split Friday night for the Twin Cedars basketball teams, as the Saber girls stymied Lamoni in a 41-15 rout; while the Twin Cedars boys struggled to find points in a 59-47 loss to the Warriors.

Alee Hugen had a team-best 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Brittany Roby also chipped in 13 in the scorer’s column to help the Sabers improve to 10-4 on the season and 5-1 in Bluegrass Conference play.

In the boys’ contest, Twin Cedars struggled to put the ball through the cylinder, as Dylan Springer’s 14-point performance was not enough to lead the Sabers to victory. The loss drops the team to 6-8 overall and 4-2 in league play.

Both Twin Cedars teams open Bluegrass Conference tournament play on Tuesday.
