Pleasantville grabbed two wins at home against Southeast Warren Tuesday night, as the girls claimed a 49-41 win and the boys notched a 72-41 triumph.

The girls battled it out first between the Warhawks, and it looked like Pleasantville would have a tough time after being down in the 1st quarter 12-5.  The Trojans would then go on a tear in the 2nd quarter and outscore the Warhawks by a score of 19-10 to go up 24-22 at halftime.

The leading scorer, freshman Kennedy Core would lead the team with 13 points and would get some help from her teammates as Alessia Luna and Morgan Lauer would both score 11 points each.

The Trojans would outscore the Warhawks in the 2nd half 25-22 to come away with a close, but hard fought 49-41 win.  The girls now are 3-9 overall and 3-6 in the Pride of Iowa conference play and face Corning at home this Friday.

The Pleasantville boys started out hot by winning the tip and 3 seconds later scoring a layup by Jake Burgett by not allowing the Warhawks to play defense.  The Trojans would continue to play quick in the 1st quarter and outscored the Warhawks 25-8.  The Trojans would not look back after that as DJ Weaver stepped up and shot for 18 points including 2 consecutive 3 pointers.

Weaver would also be the team’s leading scorer throughout the night as Hunter Van Haalen would add 15 points in the game, along with Trevor Zoss and Collin Thomas would each score 12 points.  Pleasantville would come away with a comfortable win 72-41.

Pleasantville now goes to 10-1 overall in the season and 8-1 in the Pride of Iowa conference play and face Corning at home on Friday night.
