A Knoxville bus driver remains in serious but stable condition after being airlifted from the scene of an accident in rural Knoxville. 53-year-old Annette “Toni” Pitt is currently at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Everyone else involved in the accident where a school bus flipped over was treated and released from area hospitals. Knoxville Fire Chief Mike Roberts says that this incident is the kind of thing that they spend lots of time training for. Knoxville Rural Fire Chief Kenny Thompson says everything went well at the scene overall. Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat also compliments the job Marion County Dispatch did during the incident, calling them “top-notch”.
