Today is Ash Wednesday. The holy day marks the start of Lent, the period when the Bible tells the faithful Jesus endured temptation by the Devil before beginning his public ministry. Many churches in the area will be observing the Holiday, by recognizing, and repenting for sins. Since ancient times, dusting oneself with ashes has been a sign of repentance, and that tradition continues in churches the world over today. Ash Wednesday can land anywhere from February 4th to as late as March 10th year to year.
