Pleasantville came away with a split on the road against the Roadrunners of Interstate 35, Tuesday night with the girls basketball team taking a 62-49 loss and the boys cruising to a 75-35 triumph.
The Pleasantville girls played well in the first 16 minutes, holding a 22-21 halftime lead, but the Roadrunners and their standout, Olivia Sulentic, would heat up in the second half to put the game away. Sulentic led all scorers with 34 points, while Pleasantville’s Alessia Luna and Kennedy Core would combine for 37 points. The Trojans now fall to 5-14 overall in the season and 4-10 in the Pride of Iowa Conference.
The Pleasantville boys would only need the first quarter to really get things rolling their way as they went on a 17-0 run in the opening frame. The Trojans now advance to 15-2 in the season and 11-2 in the Pride of Iowa Conference. Both Pleasantville teams remain on the road to end the week, as they’ll travel to Mount Ayr on Friday night.
