Seven Knoxville wrestlers are headed to the A-A-U State Kids Wrestling Meet in Des Moines this weekend. The grapplers qualified out of District action earlier this month in Oskaloosa. Gabe Gordon, Koby Gordon, and Ian Crossett have qualified in the third and fourth grade division. Joe Hollinrake, and Cody Ray Smith qualified in the fifth and sixth grade division and Jake Kindley and Travis Poffenbarger qualified in the seventh and eighth grade division. Knoxville High School Coach Ron Peterson is one of the organizers of the event and he says many of the schools represented are some of the schools that were at the high school state high school meet last week. Peterson says it will be a long weekend in Des Moines as there are 32 wrestlers in each weight class at all grade levels. He adds many of the kids that wrestle at Wells Fargo Arena this weekend could wrestle in a few years on the big stage of the State high School Meet.
