Senator Paul McKinley says that he doesn’t expect much to move out of the Senate this year. Last week the Iowa Senate voted to increase allowable growth in schools to 4%. McKinley tells KNIA/KRLS News that was political posturing, as the Democratic controlled Senate knows that the bill won’t go anywhere in the House or with Governor Branstad. He says that we must find other ways to reform education. Continuing to increase funding has not worked based on our declining statistics. McKinley says one of the ways to do so is to reform the teaching methods that new teachers are learning in colleges.
