Pella Christian’s basketball teams get one final postseason tune-up game in tonight, as the Eagles travel to Norwalk to face the Warriors. The Pella Christian girls enter the game a little stirred up, after seeing their perfect Little Hawkeye Conference season halted by rival Pella High on Tuesday night.

“It’s nice that we can have a quick turnaround – I think that always helps – because the girls have that [loss] fresh in their minds yet, and so we can get back on the court yet and hopefully correct it,” said Pella Christian girls’ head coach Kevin Van Maanen. “Still, it’s going to be a tough opponent, and we’re looking forward to the challenge.”

The Lady Eagles still had the outright league title locked up with a 10-1 conference mark, and are 15-3 overall. On their home court earlier this season, the Lady Eagles had to scratch and claw their way to a 35-25 victory over Norwalk.

The boys’ game, meanwhile, presents an opportunity for the Eagles to avenge another frustrating league loss, as they’ll get a second crack at a Norwalk squad that defeated them in overtime at Pella Christian High School on a last-second steal and lay-up. Eagles’ head coach Larry Hessing says tonight’s game will be yet another tough game in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

“There’s nothing easy in this conference. If you’ve watched the box scores, you know that they’ve [Norwalk] been playing the top teams in the conference tough,” said Hessing. “We’re anticipating a really tough basketball game, but we like that.”

The Pella Christian boys are 12-6 overall and 7-4 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Tip-off from Norwalk is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. tonight.
