The Pella Christian girls basketball team is in the midst of a full week of practice now, following Monday night’s Class 2A Regional Final victory over Monticello, and Lady Eagles’ head coach Kevin Van Maanen says much of the week will be business as usual for his squad. Still, he thinks the experience gained by the team in making it to the State Tournament last year will be helpful in this year’s preparations for the Big Dance.

“It’s helps that we went there last year, so we kind of know the procedure a little bit better, know what to expect, so I’m hoping they’ll use that experience” said Van Maanen. “In practices, we’ve just got to make sure we go over things, keep executing things, and work on offense, defense, getting the ball in-bounds, and just make sure we’re sharp on everything going in to next week.”

The Pella Christian girls will face West Hancock Tuesday morning at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines in the quarterfinal round of the Class 2A Girls State Basketball Tournament.
