Pella Christian swept Oskaloosa Friday night as the girls won 61-43 and the boys capped it off with a 63-42 victory to earn season sweeps over their rivals from the East.

It was a slow start for the Eagle girls as Oskaloosa jumped out to an 11-2 lead midway through the first quarter, but following a timeout and pep talk from Coach Kevin Van Maanen, they quickly got right back in the game going on a 7-0 run to pull within two, and eventually gained a 27-22 lead at halftime. The game was clearly decided in the third quarter though as an inspired Pella Christian team stretched their lead to 50-27 outscoring Oskaloosa 23-5 to clearly take control heading into the final quarter.

With their normal scoring leaders struggling, Cori Uitermarkt came off the bench and sparked the Eagles with a game high 20 points, 12 of which came in the second half. Pella Christian improved to 15-2 overall and solidified an Little Hawkeye Conference title; moving to 10-0 in league play.

The boys game was similar, as Pella Christian held just a three point advantage after one quarter, but outscored the Indians 13-5 in the second quarter to lead 28-17 at halftime. Every player in uniform saw time on the floor, and nine players scored – led by Dan Hessing’s 14 points, while Austin Vermeer chipped in 12. The Eagles improved to 11-6 on the season and 6-4 in the conference.

Both teams will be home to host Colo-Nesco in non-conference action today at 3:00 pm before hosting Pella on Tuesday night.
