For the second time this season, the Pella Christian girls and boys basketball teams could forge only a split with Norwalk, as the Lady Eagles claimed a 55-40 win in Thursday night’s regular season finale; while the Warriors again got the best of the Pella Christian boys late in the game – slipping away with a 46-40 win.

Relatively speaking, Pella Christian’s 15-point win in the girls’ game was a low-scoring affair, but still 20 points better than the previous meeting’s 35-25 final score. Jasmin Schelhaas had 15 points to lead the Lady Eagles, who finish their run through the Little Hawkeye Conference with a 11-1 record and enter Saturday’s Regional Tournament opener against Albia with a 16-3 overall record.

In the nightcap, the Eagles and Warriors labored through a defensive struggle that featured a 17-16 halftime score and came down to a final period that saw Norwalk hit all five of their shots from the floor to pull away for the win. Blake Riggen’s 15 points was tops for Pella Christian, who slips to 12-7 overall and finishes the league slate with a 7-5 record. They’ll host Albia on Monday in the opening round of the Class 2A District Tournament.
