Jasmin Schelhaas scored 17 of her game-high 19 points in the second half, and Pella Christian pulled away from Iowa City Regina in the fourth quarter to claim a 63-49 victory in Friday night’s Class 2A Regional Semifinal in Sigourney.

The Lady Eagles outscored the Regents 20-11 in the final eight minutes and handed Regina just their fourth loss of the season, while improving their own record to 19-3 overall. Including Schelhaas, the Pella Christian girls had eight players score three points or more, with Tayler Stursma also in double figures with 12 points and a team-best 5 rebounds.

The win puts the Lady Eagles a step away from a return trip to the State Tournament, but first they’ll face a 21-3 Monticello squad that handed Maquoketa Valley a 59-51 loss in the other Regional Semifinal Friday night. The two teams meet Monday night in Marengo.
