The ball simply was not going in…that was the simple explanation of Knoxville Boys Coach Jeff Larson after last night’s loss to Newton 57-31. Newton’s pressure defense and constant movement on offense kept the Panthers off balance all night. Knoxville did make a run similar to Tuesday’s comeback against Oskaloosa. Knoxville was trailing by 20 points early in the third quarter, and a quick eight/nothing spurt forced the Cardinals to call a time out. After that, Newton went on an even quicker seven/nothing run to put the game away. Gerritt Davis and Bryant McWilliams shared high point honors for Knoxville who drops to 1-17 on the season and 0-10 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Knoxville will host Norwalk on Tuesday in its next game.
