The Knoxville School Board has a couple of options as they look to what lies ahead in bonding the auditorium project. Travis Squires, with financial firm Piper Jaffray, told the board last week that they could consider an open bid, or what’s called bank placement. Bank placement is an option where one or more local banks buy the bonds, increasing their community investment. Squires told the board that local banks are becoming more competitive with interest rates as they have more cash on hand than in the past. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says they will continue to look all options moving forward.
