The open to the 2012 Iowa Girls State Basketball Tournament is just days away, and the Pella Christian girls basketball squad is excited to be among the eight-team field for Class 2A.  The Lady Eagles returned a large contingent from last year’s State-qualifying team – namely seven seniors – that have been front and center this season.

One of those seniors, Jasmin Schelhaas, says it’s been a goal all season for the team to return to Wells Fargo Arena, and says she recognizes what an accomplishment it is for them to have made it back.  Another of those seniors, Miranda Spurgeon, says this year’s journey has been a bit more of a challenge than last year, when they ripped through the Regional Tournament, but says the competitive games have been more fun and made the girls closer as a team.

The Pella Christian girls enter the Class 2A State Tournament Quarterfinals with a 21-3 record and face 25-0 West Hancock on Tuesday morning.  Tip-off from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
