The first steps in renovating West 1st Street in Pella have begun. At this weeks Pella City Council meeting engineering services for the road were approved. Pella City Administrator Mike Nardini tells KNIA/KRLS News that the city has heard lots of feedback about West 1st’s condition, and the reconstruction of the street is in the 2012/2013 budget. Nardini says that at this time it hasn’t been decided if it will be redone as a brick or a concrete road, but that the city has asked for bids on both types of road surfaces. Currently the city schedule has West 1st being rebuilt over the summer, starting shortly after the Tulip Time festival.
