Behind solid performances by their starting pitchers, the Central College baseball team continued their strong start to the season, picking up three more wins over the weekend in Florida.

On Saturday, Ryan Goetzinger and Ryan Dusil both threw complete games for the Dutch against Elms College, as Central shut out the Blazers 9-0 in the opener, then completed the doubleheader sweep with a 4-2 nightcap victory. Designated hitter Josh Stanton went two-for-three with a run scored and two RBIs in the opener to lead the Dutch, while left fielder Michael Jontz spearheaded the offensive attack in the second game, going three-for-four with two RBIs and one run.

On Sunday, it was Dirk Lindaman holding Principia College at bay, as the junior hurler tossed a one-hitter in 7 ⅓ innings of work, striking out a career-best 11 batters along the way in a 10-0 eight-inning victory for the Dutch. After five innings of scoreless baseball, the Central offense came alive with a five-run sixth inning to put the game away. Adam Ariola and Max Seeman each had two hits for the Dutch, with Seeman tallying three RBIs.

The three-win weekend has the Central College baseball team off to a 6-1 start to the season. They’ll be off today before returning to action in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic on Tuesday against Monmouth College.
