The Pella High boys tennis team is still hard at work in early season practices as the Little Dutch work toward their season opener. In his second season at the helm of the program, head coach Nick Seipel says while his squad is a little short on experience, they’ve shown a great amount of enthusiasm for the sport and have been working hard at some of the basic aspects of tennis.

“Footwork has been big. We’ve been doing some eye-hand coordination drills [and] teaching a lot of the first-year players the proper stroke mechanics on their ground strokes,” said Seipel. “[Also] introducing the serve and showing them some of the drills we’ll be doing throughout the course of the season; and also setting up the challenge ladder, so they can figure out where they fit in our line-up.”

Pella High opens the 2012 boys tennis season on April 9th with a meet at Boone.
