Another meeting regarding the possible community purchase of the movie theatre in Knoxville will be held Thursday afternoon. Knoxville Mayor Don Zoutte says they’ll discuss specific financials on the operation of the theatre during the meeting.
Last week, a crowd of about 40 people gathered at the movie theatre to look at the condition of the building. The theatre has been closed since last September. Zoutte told the group that the initial asking price for the building as-is was 85,000 dollars. He also notes that the City of Knoxville is not involved in the purchase of the theatre. His involvement in this project is in an effort to organize a group of private investors.
Zoutte encourages anyone who is seriously considering investing in the theatre come to the Knoxville Chamber Conference room at 5pm Thursday.
