Senator Paul McKinley told an audience in Knoxville Friday afternoon that there still hasn’t been much movement on anything during this legislative session. He says that a bill that would have cut down on the number of rules and regulations businesses must adhere to was defeated in the Senate. McKinley was disappointed by that, saying he thinks the larger amount of administrative rules that members of organizations like the DNR write are among the largest factors in preventing businesses fromsucceeding in the state. McKinley called some of those administrative rules “activism run amuck”.

He added the state needs to find a way to make sure road budget dollars are used more efficiently. McKinley says that those in charge of the roads budget dollars need to make sure the money actually goes into roads, rather than things like bike trials or large salary increases.
