The Pella Christian boys track and field program is under new leadership this spring, as first-year teacher Keith Anderson takes over as head coach for the Eagles.  Anderson is not entirely new to Pella Christian, though, something he says has been helpful in his transition.

“I’ve had a lot of familiarity since coming back here.  I did my student teaching here [at Pella Christian] a few years ago, so I knew a lot of the faces, a lot of the faculty [and] a lot of the kids,” said Anderson.  “I’m just happy to be back, and I feel the transition has gone really smoothly.”

He says his own interest in running had him excited about becoming the head boys track and field coach at Pella Christian.

“I’m originally from Northwest Iowa.  I was not really a runner growing up, but in the past six, seven years I’ve really gotten into running triathlons,” said Anderson.  “I do a lot of running on the side, so I’m very familiar with what it takes to be a successful runner.  The position came open to be the track coach here [at Pella Christian] and I jumped at the opportunity.”

The Eagles will hit the track for their first competition of the season on April 3rd, when they travel to Bloomfield for a meet hosted by Davis County.
