[simage=4718,200,y,left] Marion County Attorney Ed Bull laid out what the State set to prove as a murder-for-hire scheme during his opening statements yesterday morning in the Michael Miller trial. Bull told the jury at the Clarke County Courthouse in Osceola that Mike Miller hired Terry Cobbins, Jr. to kill his wife, Theresa Miller. Bull explained to the jury he did so because the woman he was having an affair with, Neida Pinon, gave him an ultimatum to leave his wife.

iller’s defense team told the jury that many of the things that Bull says about the inconsistencies in Miller’s statements are true, but there is no evidence linking Miller to any scheme in which he hired a shooter to kill his wife. They explained that there were others that had the means, motive, and money to hire someone and commit the crim. The trial continued Wednesday as the state began calling witnesses.
