Despite the loss of a pair of talented State Track Meet qualifiers to graduation, the PCM girls track and field program still feels good about its chances to be successful in many of the same events this spring. Mustangs’ head coach Joel Grier says while graduates Stephanie Hayden and Jordan Wood will certainly be missed, he sees this season’s strengths and weaknesses being very comparable to those of a year ago.

“[We’ll be] fairly similar to last year in that our sprint relays and hurdle events will probably be our strong areas; and again, we’re going to be weak in our middle distance running. We just don’t have the numbers right there,” said Grier. “We do have a couple throwers back, and maybe that will be a good area for us; but then our jumpers are going to be a little slim again as well.”

A meet in Chariton later this month opens up the outdoor season for the PCM girls track and field team, as the Mustangs will take to the track on March 27th.
