A large contingency of returning players has the Pella Christian boys soccer team excited about their prospects for the 2012 season. Led by fourth-year head coach Josh Visser, the Eagles lost just two seniors from last year’s squad, and are looking to bury the memory of a 5-0 loss to West Central Valley in the first round of last season’s 1A Substate Tournament – something Visser says has served as motivation for his squad.

“Last season, that last game that we had was just not one of our better games. We traveled, it was a long road trip, and we got beat pretty badly [by West Central Valley]. That definitely motivated these guys,” said Visser. “A bunch of them have been working in the offseason to improve their skills and get more touches on the ball, so they are very excited to get the year started. We’ve been at it a few days and I am seeing a lot of good things.”

The Pella Christian boys soccer team opens the season with four straight home games, starting with PCM on March 29th.
