A Pella man pled not guilty to First Degree Theft in Marion County District Court Friday morning. 57-year-old John Earl Kingma is accused of stealing money from a car wash machine in Pella on two separate occasions. According to court records, a video shows Kingma unlocking the machine and taking money from it. Those records state the owner of the machine had been missing those keys for five years.

Bank records show Kingma has made more than $60,000 worth of unaccounted for deposits in the past five years. He’s set to appear in court next on April 16th for a pre-trial conference. If convicted, Kingma could face up to ten years in prison.
