A new head coach takes command of the Pella High girls tennis program this spring and brings with her a wealth of personal experience. Tiffany Rohe began playing tennis when she was 12 years old, eventually developing into a state champion in Colorado and going on to compete in Division I tennis at the University of Northern Colorado. She says those personal experiences are what motivated her to seek out the girls tennis coach position at Pella High.

“One of the reasons I wanted to coach high school [tennis] was it was probably one of the best times I’ve ever had playing tennis. I really love that it kind of makes it more of a team sport instead of an individual sport,” said Rohe. “With my experiences, I feel like I’ve been where these girls have been and I feel like I know what it takes to be a good team.”

Rohe adds that between spring break a week ago and this week’s rainy weather, there hasn’t been a lot of time to get on the court with the team, but she is excited for what lies ahead. The Lady Dutch open the 2012 tennis season on April 9th with a home meet against Boone.
